CALL U19 Division - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
For the 2026 Season
What is the purpose of the U19 Division?
The U19 Division provides a playing option for athletes aged 17-18 who are not playing Junior lacrosse in 2026. It offers a competitive, development-focused environment without the higher time, travel, or financial commitments of Junior.
Who is eligible to play U19?
Players must NOT be:
U19 is specifically intended for athletes who want to continue playing but are not moving into Junior at this time.
What if my child is drafted by a Tier 1 Junior team?
If a player is drafted by a Tier 1 Junior team, they:
-
Have the option to try out for that team.
-
If they do not make the Tier 1 roster, OR choose not to try out, they may then pursue Tier 2 opportunities based on residency.
-
If they still choose not to play Junior at all, they are eligible for U19.
How does Tier 2 Junior eligibility work?
If a player does not make a Tier 1 roster (or doesn’t try out):
Players from any other club area are considered free agents for Tier 2 and may choose their preferred team. If they are not successful with their first choice, they may try out for another Tier 2 program.
Is there room for everyone in Junior if they want to play at that level?
Yes. All graduating U17 players who wish to play Junior will have a place to play.
U19 exists only for players who choose not to enter the Junior pathway.
What if a player is not interested in Junior at all?
Then U19 is the perfect option.
Players register directly with CALL, and teams are formed by geographic region (for example: North, South, Central).
How are U19 teams formed?
Teams will be created based on:
If registration numbers allow, the season will play as full 5-on-5 box lacrosse. If numbers are lower, an adjusted format may be used to ensure meaningful competition.
How long is the U19 season?
The current plan includes:
Details will be finalized once registration closes.
How much does U19 cost?
The estimated fee is approximately $400 per player, depending on:
(If officials are refunded, approximately $150 may return to athletes depending on season costs.)
Where will U19 practices and games be held?
Floor time will be scheduled as evenly as possible across Central Alberta, considering:
-
Arena availability
-
Team locations
-
Travel balance
The exact schedule will be published once teams are formed.
Can a player affiliate between U19 and Junior?
No.
U19 is not a pathway to affiliate into Junior.
If a player intends to play Junior — or appear on a Junior roster — they should not register for U19.
What does a player need to do to register?
Registration opens on January 1st through the CALL website.
Players simply:
-
Go to the CALL Registration page
-
Select U19 Division
-
Complete the online RAMP registration
No transfers or releases are required unless a player is moving between club boundaries.
