CALL Playoff Rules

Overtime (Semi-Finals and Finals Only)

As per ALA Regulation 9.07
If a game is tied at the end of regulation time, one sudden-victory overtime period will be played. The length of this period will be as specified in the Lacrosse Canada Age and Stage Modifications.
If the game remains tied at the end of the sudden-victory overtime period, the game will proceed to a shootout.
The shootout will be conducted as follows:
  • Teams will take alternating penalty shots.
  • The home team will choose whether they shoot first or last, and that order will remain the same for all rounds of the shootout.
  • The shootout will proceed one round at a time and will continue until one team scores and the opposing team does not score during their respective penalty shots.
  • The team that scores while the opposing team does not will be declared the winner.
  • If both teams score, another round of the shootout will be conducted.
Teams must use a different shooter in each round until all eligible players have taken a penalty shot.
The following players are not eligible to shoot:
  • The goaltender
  • The substitute goaltender
  • Any player who left the playing surface due to injury
  • Any player who was serving a penalty prior to the conclusion of overtime

Once all eligible players have taken a shot, the rotation may begin again with any eligible player.

Game Lengths:
All game lengths will follow ALA Standard Game Length regulations.
